WORK:
Produce a brand identity for SK Trading UK. Create a safety manual for warehouse employees and physical posters for local advertising. Create packaging for multiple products.
SK IMPORTS:
SK Imports is a small business that resides in Manchester, UK. The company imports and trades goods throughout it’s surrounding area, making it a fairly local company. These goods include regular household items, tools, and kitchen appliances.
Branding, Physical Promotion/Material, Package Design
LOGO DESIGN
The logo design for SK Imports is sleek and minimalist. This is due to the straight forward and business oriented nature of the company, which embodies SK Import's personality. I stripped the vertical line from the K. The vertical line made the logo look too convoluted. I stuck with the more defining factor of the K, which are the perpendicular lines. This logo also creates a narrative for the audience to understand more about the company. The S signifies the global aspect of SK trading, regarding import/export. The K signifies the point of which the product resides. The curve in the middle of the S connotes the way-point or journey that the product undertakes.
TYPE
Two variants of Inter were utilized for the typography. The type family, Inter is a well structured, contemporary, and legible typeface that can be seen from great distances. This typeface signifies strength and stability, something that the audience will be looking for in an import/export company. Reliability is a key component in the business, and this exudes just that.
COLOUR
Professional and well suited colour palette that is visually striking. The colour combinations will be used throughout every aspect of the brand. Blue is regarded as the colour that represents trust, wisdom, sincerity, and loyalty. These are the pillars that SK Trading have built their business upon. The use of cream, and a darker hue of blue is to create contrast and provide a slightly more playful look.
TONE OF VOICE
I want the tone of the voice to be business oriented, prioritizing locality and loyalty. This creates a sense of reliability. This is what SK Trading wish to exude with the project. Instilling a focal point of dependability fits in with the target demographic's interests as they do not like unfamiliarity and value products that last. An emphasis on locality for the tagline feels more personal and conveys a sense of familiarity and friendliness. The inclusion of the global element suggests that SK are exclusively introducing the local consumer to a plethora of global supplies.
MOTIF
From the logo design, I was interested in the K and how retracting the vertical line from the K made it look like an arrow head. Arrows symbolize movement, an upward trajectory, and speed. This fits perfectly with the brand as with an import/export entity,, efficiency is key. An arrow signifies this concept perfectly.
